KU’s globally-focused perspective prepares students for success no matter where in the world their dreams may take them after graduation. KU’s professors believe that the youth of today are the creators and leaders of tomorrow and bestowing upon students the greatest education available is the university’s first priority.

The Department

Division of International Studies (DIS)

The Division of International Studies (DIS) at Korea University was established in 2002 with the aim of training experts able to fill the intellectual gaps brought by our globalized times. It is one of the major programs at the university, with nearly 500 students and 40 faculty members, including adjunct professors.

One of the most appealing aspects of DIS at Korea University is that it is an interdisciplinary program encompassing a wide range of disciplines, including International Commerce, International Development & Cooperation, and International Peace & Security.

As the world faces the challenges of global warming, financial crisis, income disparity, terrorism and the threat of another world war, the interdisciplinary nature of DIS allows students to deepen their global perspective and gain valuable insights into the workings of global processes, international relations, global governance, international trade and business, and development institutions.

Students are able to do a 3+2 combined/dual degree program with GSIS to complete both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in five years, opening the doors for many opportunities in academia and international organizations.

DIS is also a partner of the United Nations Development Programme(UNDP) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to the benefits of students who can deepen their knowledge in the area of diplomacy.
